Thick and durable traditional leather leg pad helps prevent damage to your clothes and leg during percussion knapping and provides support when pressure flaking. Sold individually.
Thick cow leather pad to protect your clothes and leg while flintknapping. Most knappers find two of these stacked to be plenty of support for percussion and pressure flaking.
Each leather pad size is the equivalent of a minimum 12x12 square inches but most are often larger. We cut them rectangular when possible and most end up being around 8 x 13 to better drape over a leg. Expect some natural edges since these pads are cut from from thicker outer pieces of vegetable tanned cow leather straight from the tannery. Leather thickness varies around 7-9 ounce.
Tip: We find layering a leather pad on top of our modern rubber leg pad is very puncture resistant and particularly comfortable for long knapping sessions.
Our most popular size of traditional percussion tool, this
medium 5-8 oz traditional antler billet is perfect for flake removal
and some fine work on medium to small points and blades. Sourced
from naturally shed deer antler, all of our 'abo' billets are
domed and can be resurfaced many times. Sold
individually.
